This will be the 4th health fair organized by MILA in collaboration with 9 news health fair. It can benefit everyone whether you have or do not have health insurance so please take advantage of that. Everyone is encouraged to get the blood test for a small fee. Last year many participants found surprises regarding their health which would be missed if they did not come to the health fair.

What is the cost?
The only cost you pay at a 9Health Fair site is the:
- optional blood chemistry screening, $ 30
- PSA (prostate cancer screening) for $15
- take-home colon cancer screening kit ($5).
What is included in the blood chemistry?
31 different tests to cover Diabetes screen, and screens for functions of the kidney, liver, heart, thyroid and muscle and bone, and joints.
When will you get your results?
Two copies of your results will be mailed to you at the address you provided on your participant form. You will receive your results within 6 weeks.
What about "fasting?"
Diabetics should never fast before the 9Health Fair because their blood sugar level may get dangerously low. Fasting for the Health Fair means not consuming any calories. It is important to continue to drink water while fasting so that you do not get dehydrated.
To get the most accurate cholesterol and glucose (sugar), you should fast for about 12 hours before the blood chemistry screening.
If you are unable to fast for 12 hours, your glucose, cholesterol, and triglycerides may be slightly elevated. None of the other results will be affected.
It is important to continue to take your prescription medications.
Is there an age requirement?
Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
How long does it take to go through the 9Health Fair?
Most participants spend about 2 hours learning about their health. It can be 30 minutes to several hours depending on how amny stations you stop at.
Do you need an appointment?
No appointments are necessary; it is first come, first served.
