MILA January 2005 Update
Education Committee
MILA's Distinguished Lecture Series will continue to present dynamic and informative speakers throughout 2005. The Lecture Series will begin on Feburary 12, 2005 with Dr. Ingrid Mattson. In April, Imam Mokhtar Maghraoui will speak, in July Dr. Umar Faruq Abd-Allah will speak and in October 2005, Dr. Sulayman Nyang will speak to members of the Denver community.
The Ansar Group
MILA's Ansar Group continues its work to establish a food bank and soup kitchen. Currently, the Ansar Group is addressing organizational issues and seeking a suitable site for the soup kitchen. Additionally, the Ansar Group has delivered needed food to many members of the Denver area, and Ansar continues its work in this endeavor.
IT
MILA's IT Group has developed, and will soon implement, a new and exciting web site. The web site will give updated information about MILA, its upcoming activities and events, as well as offer information about past events and speakers hosted by MILA. Web visitors can obtain membership and committee information, as well as learn about upcoming membership meetings.
Silent Auction for Tsunami Relief
MILA will conduct a silent auction to benefit victims of the recent tsunami. The auction will feature beautiful imports, art, cultural artifacts, etc. and will take place on January 23, 2005. The auction will take place at the Marriott Denver Tech Center, 4900 South Syracuse Street. The time will be from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m.
MILA Membership
MILA's Membership Committee continues to seek members. Active, participating members are especially needed. MILA is flexible and can accommodate the schedules of most members interested in actively participating in MILA. Applications may be completed on MILA's website at http://www.milacolorado.org.
